John Denver is a popular singer and songwriter who has been able to touch many by his lyrics. A lot of them are based on Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell new Mexico, but was enthralled by Colorado. He eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's anthems for his adopted state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares the fact that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. Today, he is the international face of Colorado. On my trips, I've met people who are from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown clarified. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short period of performing with small folk-based group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver saw an early rendition it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. The song was first recorded two weeks following it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
